Two Albums at Once!
During my normal evening of internet surfing, email sending, and blank sheet music manuscript staring, I decided to peruse Nico Muhly’s official website and what did I find?
zomg.
First the usual: Nico talking about some classical-composer-in-new-york inside joke stuff with trenchant comments in valley girl lingo, excellent musical excerpts from other artists, and then new about his new album with Decca. Whatever. Except! The Decca record wasn’t the Los Angeles Master Chorale record I have been holding my breath for all year… it was a SECOND Decca release in collaboration with Bedroom Community! This new release is already available for download at nicomuhly.bandcamp.com, and it. is. amazing. It sounds amazing! Valgeir Sigurösson’s indie/electronica/brilliant production coupled with Muhly’s accessible and downright beautiful compositional brilliance make this the record I’ve wanted to hear from him my entire life as a musician.
NICO MUHLY. Rocked my socks again. Everyone buy it! Everyone love it! Everyone make more music! This is just the kick I needed to jumpstart my composition spree!
But, I have to cover the little things like employment and love-life and all of that….

Really not as important as the new Nico Muhly record.
